Starting over

Starting over sucks.

Back to the beginning.

That’s where my body is today: fitness-wise.

Back to the beginning.

Nine years ago almost exactly I took my first yoga class. And now, nine years later, I’m going back to a beginner’s class.

I really need a baby beginner class. Or a therapeutics class, but they don’t offer one in my area. So I’m relying on yogaglo, Rodney Yee videos, and a back pain workshop this weekend. I’m off to the West Coast next week (oh plane flight, please don’t kill me) and hoping in my zany schedule I can get to an amazing Iyengar-based therapeutic class. *Fingers crossed*

My pinched nerve at the base of the spine is really getting, well, on my nerves.

Even going for a walk yesterday turned into a difficult affair. I thought at one point I’d have to call a friend to get picked up–even though I was only five blocks from home!

So I did what anyone would do last night.  I rented a silly chick lit movie via Amazon prime and made my version of comfort food–which happened to be Brussels Sprouts and toast with Brie!

Trader Joe’s wheat Italian pane toasted and topped with 2 oz of Brie cheese. Served with Trader Joe’s true Beligan Brussels Sprouts tossed in olive oil and roasted at 450 for 20-25 until done and lightly crispy.  Seasoned with salt and pepper to taste.

And had a glass of wine, because I deserved it.

And comfort food again this morning in the form of egg whites, mozzarella cheese, and avocado. MMM. Avocado….

How do you cope with starting over? Have you had an injury that, well, sucks? Even walking is not-so-hot and, obvi, I also don’t want to gain weight while injured.  Life has a funny way of making you get back into your body and learn about your body in new ways!!

You need to stop traveling so we can go to Trader Joe’s. I want to be guided by an expert my first time.

October! We can go in October lol. You should go without me though next weekend–you will want to look around forever and you will love it. BTW we forgot to take pictures at Artpool yesterday! 🙁

I had just started working out when I injured my heel and was told I couldnt do anything for 6 weeks. Thats a really long time to take a break from walking/jogging. I had to start from scratch. It was hard and still is but I continue on 🙂

Also, try cutting your calorie intake while you cant do anything. Chances are youre taking in a lot more than you think. I was… I cut mine by 500 calories a day and have lost 8 lbs.
