Let Go Control

Let go.
Control.
Let go. Control.
Let go control. Let go.
Control.
Let go.
Control.
Let go control.
Let go control.

Inhale: Let go.
Exhale Control.

That’s my mantra this week.

As human beings, one of the hardest things to do is to let go of a need to control. To accept things for what they are and not try to make them into what we want to be.

F-E-A-R.

That one word is what causes the need to control.

Whether we want to admit it or not.

F-E-A-R.

Merriam-Webster tells me that fear is:

“: to be afraid of (something or someone)

: to expect or worry about (something bad or unpleasant)

: to be afraid and worried”

BINGO!

Fear is a mixture of being AFRAID and WORRYING.  And, in turn, it is these things–apprehension, anxiety, alarm, fretting, stressing, dreading, being scared–that cause us to shut down and try to control everything.

Control is not necessarily a bad thing.  There are certain things with which control is necessary and important. (Your bills won’t pay themselves….) However, for the most part, we can all learn to RELINQUISH CONTROL.

When we are trying to control, manipulate, or create a certain outcome–we are not truly being present in the moment. We are letting our insecurities take over and our brain goes into over-drive.  We let the fear button take control as our brains spin thinking of the future and trying to affect a specific outcome.

We don’t know what’s best.
We don’t know how things are meant to be.

And guess what?

We can’t control the future or the present moment. Do we try and control the weather? No, because we know that we can’t. So why do we try to control so many other things?

Let go control.

When we let go the need to control. The wish for a specific outcome. We open ourselves up to the potential for something truly awesome.

When we stop being AFRAID of what may happen if we don’t control the outcome of xyz, maybe, just maybe, something even better will come about because we waited, we breathed, we experienced what is.

And I’m not saying to let go completely. There are reasons to control. You have a job, bills, safety to think about. But in your personal life. In every moment possible. How can you let go of the need to control the situation? How can you let go the fear and let the moment just be whatever the moment is?

There is so much of life that can be experienced only by becoming vulnerable and relinquishing control.

Notice when you are trying to change things, create a certain outcome, or just, in general, are being controlling.

Is that control necessary? Can you breathe out and let go? What happens if you do?

Let me know what discoveries you have when you just be with what is.
Here and now.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Let go control.
Let in the potential for unlimited joy.

You’ll feel quite the difference!
