Are you being nice in an effort to create “good karma?”
Are you being nice in an effort to have “good karma?” Forget the “karma.” Just be nice because it is the right thing to do.
On Sunday, I was at a smaller airport that only has vending machines. My flight was delayed and I needed a bottle of water. Unfortunately, the change machine also was unable to give me change for my five dollar bill.
A nice young woman saw me battling with the vending machine. I asked her if she had change for a five. To which she said “no,” and reached into her wallet and gave me two dollars instead. She said “have a water on me.” Sure, it was only two, but people so rarely do kind and generous things like that nowadays! That water was wonderful–tasting all the better for the generosity accompanying it!
On Monday, as I drove by Target there was a family begging for money for their rent. So I gave them two dollars that I now had in my wallet thanks to my purchases.
It was only two dollars. But that two symbolizes kindness, generosity, and a wish to help others.
And I believe that something good will come to the woman who gave me two at the airport and that maybe, just maybe, I helped give the beggar some hope and joy.
And I didn’t do it to try and create “good karma” for me. I did it because it was the right thing to do. Because helping others is ALWAYS the right thing to do.
When we are faced with the opportunity, it is our duty to step up and practice compassion for others. To be kind to others.
I plan to always make the choice that will pass love on to others.
Will you make the pledge to #PassLove? Even if it’s just two dollars. Two dollars can transform a person’s life.
