#KeepItTight: Pro Compression Calf Sleeve Review

ProCompression Logo I had never worn calf sleeves before. I had thought about them, but always looked at them at race expos and kept going.

Then my friend Erin had terrible leg issues during the Savannah Rock ‘n Roll half marathon.  Such bad leg issues, that she, an experienced full marathoner, ended up limping the final miles of her half marathon in Savannah. We had another race scheduled two weeks later–the Women’s Running Magazine Half Marathon in St. Pete.  Erin was worried.  No one wants to be in pain running! No one!

Erin and I went to the Women’s Running expo together. And found ourselves standing in front of a Pro Compression Calf Sleeve display.  The booth attendant came over and chatted with Erin about her legs. The man swore that they would help Erin, especially by reducing the swelling that she had experienced in her legs.  One thing led to another. Erin bought a pair of calf sleeves. And she went on to have an absolutely amazing race, finishing under two hours (despite her slow half and immense pain only two weeks prior) and entirely pain-free! While we can’t prove that the calf sleeves made a difference, we can say that they had some positive impact on the race.

When Fit Approach offered us an opportunity to try a pair of Pro Compression sleeves in exchange for an honest review, I jumped at the opportunity! I wanted to experience for myself the difference these sleeves make. Especially in the Florida hot humidity where swelling is at it’s peak! (And as a runner and  yoga teacher, I spend a lot of time on my legs!) I loved them!

Here I am mid-run (yes I paused for a photo) sporting my calf-sleeves on Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, Florida.

Not only did the calf sleeves reduce swelling, but I like them over the marathon socks BECAUSE you can still wear your favorite, tried and true race-day socks. (And we runners can be a superstitious bunch when it comes to race-day attire!) I can tell you now, I can’t wait to use these sleeves in the winter, as well, when I prefer to run in shorts but often need some added warmth. I just need to get them in PINK! 😉

Thankfully, getting a second pair will be SUPER affordable right now.  Thanks to Fit Approach and Pro Compression, the code “PINK” (how appropriate, yeah?) will save 40% of an ENTIRE purchase made a Pro Compression’s site. Wow! That’s a great deal. So hop on over to the store and poke around. Let me know what you get!

I tried the calf sleeves as well and LOVE them! I also need them in pink now to match the rest of my pink running gear 🙂 So cute!

I haven’t tried compression anything yet. I’d like to try the socks for after I run because I run barefoot and it’s my feet and not my calves that get sore.
