Five Reasons To Love #ClassPassTampa

Yes, y’all, Tampa has finally jumped on the ClassPass bandwagon. And it’s pretty amazing.
ClassPass launched in Tampa, bringing Florida to the front of the fitness fun that the Sunshine State deserves.
I’m in love. Seriously, IN LOVE, with ClassPass.
And you will be, too.
So far, I’ve only completed my first two weeks of ClassPass. And it’s hard to imagine life before.
Here’s Five Reasons I love #ClassPassTampa–and you will too:
1) The Variety!
You can Pole Dance. You can Flow Yoga. You can Pound. You can Cycle. You can Row. You can Barre. You can Boot Camp. You can CrossFit. You can Bikram. You can PRETTY MUCH DO ANY KIND OF GROUP FITNESS CLASS YOU CAN IMAGINE. It’s mind-blowing.
Plus, if you you travel a lot you can flex your location to take a class in Boston, New York, Chicago, LA, or anywhere else your travels take you that happens to be on ClassPass.
2) Valuable Cross-Training
As an endurance runner and yogi, cross-training is my bread and butter. It keeps my body strong, it keeps my mind happy. and it keeps my soul awake. (Yes, you read that right. Cross-training helps me to stay inspired, to stay present, and to just have fun in life.)
I knew I was in for a treat.
What I didn’t know was that Pound would be amazing cross-training for all my running and yoga. What’s Pound? It’s that group fitness class with drum-sticks. The motto? “POUND: Rockout. Workout.” There are DRUMSTICKS y’all!!! And you get to bang them. Most of the time from a crazy squat position. It is *so* much fun. What’s more, it’s valuable cross-training for me as a runner and yogi. The drumming involves a TON of cross-lateral and side-to-side movements–something we don’t get when we run, cycle, walk, or go through the majority of our day to-day-life.
Plus, I got super-sweaty.
ClassPass is great because it allows you to find the cross-training classes you need while providing the flexibility for you as an athlete to work them into your zany training calendar.
3) Because, if you’re like me, there’s no way will do xyz (*cough* ab work *cough*) at home
And that’s why you get into a group fitness class!!! I know that if I had not gone to Alyssa’s Barre Fitness class on Sunday, there would have been NO way I would have been able to do so much core work on a Sunday am. But when everyone else is doing it and you are in the room, then you HAVE to give it a shot–no matter if you want to or not. 😉 (And it helps when the teacher is super friendly and encouraging!)
Sometimes I just need that shove to remind me that, yes, I should be spending my Sunday afternoon with the ever-fabulous Stephen Jones at Bella Prana Yoga & Meditation working on my personal yoga practice and HANDSTANDS!
Someday, I hope my body will let me balance like him:
While you can cancel your ClassPass reservation with NO penalty as long as you do so 12 hours beforehand, I am the kind of person who sometimes *needs* that shove to get my body to my work-out. It’s probably because I do so many running races. Have you ever noticed how different your running attitude is when you’re training for a big race vs. when you have nothing coming up? For me, I love the extra kick of having something to work towards and a goal. ClassPass reservations have a similar experience for me. I *said* I would be there, I have to be there! (Please note: if you late cancel or no-show your account on ClassPass will be charged a penalty.)
5) It’s just so much FUN!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been amazed by how fun and enjoyable the group classes have been all over Tampa. Elle Woods had it right. Fitness people are just plain friendly and happy people. “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t kill their husbands, they just don’t.” Not that there’s any murder trials going on, but sometimes you just have to throw in the applicable Legally Blonde quote, yeah? <3
Oh yeah, and you do burn a ton of calories and get your body in shape?!? I mean SERIOUSLY folks…what’s not to love?
