#HeartHealthMonth: How to have an amazing, energetic morning & day with Cheerios Ancient Grains

cheerios-ancient-grains-for-energized-day

I am asked, more than any other question, how am I so gosh darn perky?

Let me tell you, it’s not because I was just born that way.

I’m peppy, I’m active, I have the energy to continually go-go-go all thanks to my morning routine.

I need THREE things every day to get me started on the right foot–coffee, journaling, and a good breakfast.

Thankfully new offerings from General Mills at Publix take me from my coffee straight to dinner with no problems thanks to Cheerios™+Ancient Grains, Gluten-Free Chex™ Granola Mix, and Nature Valley® Nut Crisp Bars.

Here’s my favorite way to start my days:

1) I put a pot of coffee on and write in my journal for three pages while the coffee is brewing. It helps me to clear my head, get focused, and prepare for the day ahead of me–while leaving the previous day behind me! I free-write a full three pages every day, but any amount is great to do!

2) When the coffee is done, I pour myself a cup of joy! MMM! Coffee!

Lora-Hogan-Loves-Coffee

3) Coffee is no good alone. You MUST pair your coffee with a hearty breakfast!

I won’t go ANYWHERE without eating a goodbreakfast first. I don’t run, I don’t teach yoga, I don’t do laundry at home…you get the picture! Not only is breakfast proven to be the most important meal of the day, but I can tell you how truly AWFUL I feel if I skip it. My energy plummets, I get “hangry,” my digestion gets all out of whack, and just feel not so “me.” Now why on earth would I want to set my day up for failure when there’s a quick and easy way to set myself up for success?

No matter HOW busy you are, you have time to pour yourself a bowl of the new Cheerios™+Ancient Grains. It’s like the Cheerios I used to have as a kid, but better for you–and super delectable. And my favorite way to eat Cheerios™+Ancient Grains is ready in under three minutes. So that “no time for breakfast” excuse? Well, that just went on out the door.

Lora’s Quick & Easy Cheerios™+Ancient Grains Success Breakfast: (serves one)

  • 1 and 1/4 cup (or more) of Cheerios™+Ancient Grains
  • 1/2 cup (or more) of sliced strawberries
    • (Psst! Floridians it’s strawberry season and Publix has AMAZING local strawberries available right now!)
  • 1-2 tablespoons of slivered almonds
  • Dash of cinnamon

Mix it all together and top with your favorite milk (be it whole, skim, almond, etc.) and you have the making for a fantastic day!

I really love the new Cheerios™+Ancient Grains. They are sweet (but not too sweet), crunchy (but not too crunchy) and have a great mix of grains including quinoa, spelt, and gamut to leave you feeling full all day long (but not bloated–hallelujah!). Basically, this is the Goldilocks of cereals.
