How to have a spa day at home!

How do you relax? I don’t know about y’all, but I love me some bubble baths, scented candles, massages, chocolate, yoga, and more! I love love love spas. But they can be expensive which can be the opposite of relaxing. So, I have my own spa day at home! You can too–any day of the week!


Here’s how:

1) Create the mood!

I suggest you dim the lights, turn on some chillaxing music, light a few candles, and bring out the essential oil! Lavender essential oil and lavender essential oil blends are best for relieving stress.

I use this 100% organic variety from Mia Mariu. A mix of lavender, sandalwood, cedar, sage, coconut oil, and almond oil, this blend instantly helps you relax and triggers your parasympathetic nervous system (the opposite of flight or fight!) You can dab it on your wrists, use it in a diffuser, or just put a drop on your palms, rub your hands together and take in three deep breaths to inhale the scent. You can also use it for a self-massage on the neck, wrists, even your feet! (Or better yet–get your boyfriend or partner to massage it for you!)


2) Practice yoga!

Break out your favorite yoga pose! It could be leg’s up the wall, child’s pose, hip openers, you name it! Make time for a home practice. My go to pose? Supta-Virasana, shown below, followed by legs-up-the-wall!


3) Read a book!

Grab a cup of coffee and sit yourself down with your favorite book. You’ll be amazed at how good you feel when you just relax and let yourself read, without any worries or obligations! Set a timer if you feel there are too many “demands” on your time so that you know for the next 30 minutes or next hour, you have nothing to do but relax and read your book!


4) Make some tea, hot cocoa, or even pour a glass of good wine or champagne!

There’s never a reason not to celebrate. Celebrate pampering YOU!


5) Do something just because it makes you happy!

This could be online shopping, baking, taking a long nap, a bubble bath, calling a best friend who lives far away, you name it!
