I used to think that wasn’t something that meant me.
That you couldn’t be both feminine and fierce. In my head, fierce = Xena Warrior Princess. And trust me, they won’t be calling me to be the next Xena. Or even Buffy for that matter. (Unless I wake up tomorrow with some kind of supernatural powers. Then we’ll chat.)
But what I’ve realized is that there are different kinds of fierceness.
There’s the fierceness of the women’s soccer team.
And there’s the fierceness of all our women in the military.
But you don’t have to be physically strong to be fierce. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, being fierce also means “having or showing a lot of strong emotion : very strong or intense.”
It doesn’t have to mean physical toughness, violence, force, or aggressive behavior. (Though if you are on the women’s soccer team, that may be required! Wowza that sport is intense!!)
I can be fiercely me.
I can be fiercely feminine, fiercely authentic, fiercely loving, fiercely compassionate, fiercely present with everything going on in my life.
I am fierce in my own way. I am fiercely loyal. Fiercely caring. Fiercely optimistic. Fiercely passionate. Fiercely loving. Fiercely me.
And every day I become more fiercely me. More fiercely authentic. More…fierce.
And it’s a good thing.
How are you fierce?
