It’s Grilled Cheese Month! Celebrate with Rumiano Cheese (+ Giveaway)

Growing up, my father and I loved to cook one simple meal together–a grilled cheese sandwich.

You can dress it up, you can dress it down, but as long as you have quality cheese, good bread, and real butter–you can make an absolutely fantastic lunch or dinner.

And my Daddy always makes them to perfection.

This past weekend my Dad and I had fun making sandwiches together for lunch in honor of National Grilled Cheese month.

The secret?

Good cheese for starters!

We used Rumiano Organic Cheddar. The sharper the cheddar the better.

Why do we like Rumiano Cheddar?

Well, do you see the label? It’s Non-GMO. Organic. Humane. From grass fed cows! It’s a natural pale yellow and it melts gloriously!

  1. Heat a small fry pan over medium-low heat. Lower is better. Take two slices of bread. Spread butter on what will be the "outside" of the sandwich. Be liberal with spreading butter, you don't want your sandwich to stick to the pan! Add slices of cheese to the inside of one slice of bread, making sure all the bread is covered by cheese goodness. Put top slice on and transfer to skillet. Before adding top slice of bread you have the option to add in cooked bacon, avocado, tomato, or another filling that may strike your fancy. Watch carefully. I like to use a pot lid (shown with my Daddy above) on top of the sandwich to help melt the cheese fully. You need a lid that is approximately the size of your sandwich and not much larger. Watch watch watch the grilled cheese! Check to make sure the bottom is not burning and when it looks golden brown FLIP the sandwich! Repeat on second side--with the optional lid. The second side always seems to cook a little faster, so take care not to burn your sandwich. You may need to turn the heat down a tad to make sure your cheese is fully melted. Remove from heat and enjoy!
