Ouchy ouch, but at least I #sweatpink

As a yogi and a runner, I had one of the ultimate nightmares late last week.

I look super flexible. I’ve done yoga for over ten years. I am a *yogi* and a teacher.

BUTTTTTT.

I also am a wannabe triathlete-in-training and run 20-30 miles minimum per week. And am going to be increasing that mileage soon as I near more races.

So, despite looking flexible, I still have super tight hamstrings, hips, etc.

But I do look flexible.

And it happened.

A yogi teacher over-adjusted me. She pushed me deep into a pose. At first, my hip said, “ooh I got this” as she pushed me deeper and deeper. And then, my hip rebelled. It said “OUCH THIS IS TERRIBLE WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!?” But too late. I was already pushed in too deep.

This, my friends, is why I will never adjust a yogi deeper into a pose and only give alignment-based instruction.

Because now I have a hurt hip. I probably either have a small tear in my labrum and am going to see my physical therapist to be sure I’m a-ok. Don’t worry y’all!

No exciting seven mile run for me over the weekend. πŸ™ Just swimming and some cruiser biking (super slow). And last night I got to walk/super slow jog at my Monday night Running for Brews.

I so hope I am back to normal by the weekend. I have lots of swimming, lots of running, lots of biking to do. And next week the super amazing Kathryn Budig is teaching a two hour master class  and I am psyched to go to!!

In the mean time, it’s a good reminder to always LISTEN TO YOUR BODY and never to go past your edge. (Or allow others to push you past your edge.)

Good news that makes me happy, like this:

    Congrats and welcome to the SPA!!

    And that is terrible that she over adjusted you πŸ™ I’d be so upset. I dealt with a severe strain in my hip flexors last fall and they thought it was a small tear. I was out of running for 8 weeks. Hope it’s nothing serious and you feel better asap!
