Change ahead!

Can you hear it?!

That’s the sound of change!

Literally, Autumn is a season devoted to change. Sometimes the weather may be slow to transform (oh how the Florida hot October has me desperately missing cooler temperatures up north), but the seasonal attitude affects us all.

Change is coming. In fact, change has already begun. Our daily drive has a slightly new route, whether we have planned on it or not. But we have to be open to letting the change in.

Think about it. The leaves need to change color, to fall, to make room for new flowers, new blossoms, and the beauty that will come from spring. Similarly, we need to let go the old to make room for new amazing things in our life.

Change is good.

Would you want to stay in a world where nothing ever changed?

Anne of Green Gables said “My future seemed to stretch out before me like a straight road. I thought I could see along it for many a milestone. Now there is a bend in it. I don’t know what lies around the bend, but I’m going to believe that the best does. It has a fascination of its own, that bend.”

Are you ready to go down the bend in the road?

Are you ready to try something new? To tackle a different challenge. To let go of something that doesn’t serve you, to make room for something that will?

Sure, finding a bend in your road can be scary. It can be uncomfortable. To not know what will happen. To take a chance and make steps towards a new career, a new relationship, a change in lifestyle, or forming a new positive habit. And change doesn’t always come in dramatic forms. There is no actual sign that will pop up in your metaphorical road of life and say “CHANGE AHEAD.” The heads up isn’t always there. Sometimes, it can just be BOOM! here’s change! Or sometimes, the change can come slowly…a gradual bend in the road that arcs and curves and forges a new path better than ever before. (I think Robert Frost liked to call that “the road not taken.”)

But we need change. We need shifts in our lives. Because we are meant to grow in order to live life to the fullest.

This Fall, what can you CONSCIOUSLY choose to change? What bad habit can you let go of, to make more room for growth? Or maybe you want to set a goal, something to try and accomplish before the winter?

I’ll let you know one of the things I am working to change…. I’m working to make more money and grow my yoga business. A goal for me for the fall is to begin to book more workshops outside of Florida with my Lora Love Flows. AHHH! That’s big stuff! And scary! Because I am literally hoping that people will want to book me, for well, just me! And it will take hard work and patience to keep growing, to keep forming relationships to help me get my yoga business to the next level. And to get there? I need to let go of my own personal insecurity. The voice in my head that says “why would yoga teachers want to learn from YOU Lora?” The voice that worries that I am somehow not as good, not as strong, not as talented as so many other speakers and yogis out there. But all that is…that’s unnecessary insecurity. Unnecessary baggage that is weighing me down.

So I am embracing fall. I am letting go of self-doubt and letting in the knowledge that I can and will go forward with my dreams. By acknowledging how far I have come already and knowing that I will continue to grow and move forward. That I *will* be able to take my yoga on the road..out of the state and onto a National level. And that’s not something to be shy about, embarrassed about, or pretend I don’t want. And it takes hard work. And it relies upon uncertainty. I don’t know how the path with unravel. I just have to trust that the road will unfold the way it is meant to. And love the journey, bends and all.   “I don’t know what lies around the bend, but I’m going to believe that the best does.” The best is coming, as long as I am ready to embrace it. And the best is coming to you, too, if you are willing to embrace the change.

What do you think? Is there something that you want to let go of this fall? Do you have something you want to change? Let me know in the comments below!

Great piece! Makes me think of that quote “Nothing in life is certain, but change” You’ve inspired me to reflect on my life and see what I am going to change this fall… I think like you, I want to grow my business (and beyond my comfort zone ;))
    Good luck to you!
P.S. I LOVE “Lora Love Flows”!
